Cinco de Mayo Party

Early every May there’s a celebration in Mexico that everyone looks forward to all year. It falls on the 5th day of May and when Cinco de Mayo comes it’s a day for partying. All the small details of a Cinco de Mayo party are important and even if you’re not Latin you can have a get together and enjoy all the food and festivities found in Mexico.

Invitations are a must whenever you are planning a party. There are several methods of inviting folks to your Cinco de Mayo party but getting a festive invitation in the mail is a rare treat these days. Most people either call or email their friends and family members when they want to invite them to a party. You can certainly utilize your computer when it comes to making invitations, but take the time to address and mail them as it will help set the tone for your party.

Food is always the focal point of any gathering. Planning a menu for your party should be at the top of your to-do list. When you are having a Cinco de Mayo party everything should be along a Latin theme. That means you get to enjoy delights such as tacos, enchiladas, and tamales. If you are wary about cooking that much food on your own, consider having a potluck type party where you ask each guest to bring one Mexican themed dish. You’ll get to enjoy many different foods without having to spend days in the kitchen preparing them.

The look of the venue is also something you want to put a lot of thought into. When you are planning a theme party such as this, you want to make certain the room fits the feel of the event. Finding Cinco de Mayo decorations isn’t difficult at all. You simply need some red, green and white streamers. Small, inexpensive Mexican flags are also readily available in late April and early May and these make perfect Cinco de Mayo decorations too. Also a piñata fits perfectly into the theme of the day. It’s also a great party favor and imagine the fun when your guests take turns trying to break it open while blindfolded.

If you want to carry the theme even farther consider having everyone dress in the colors of the Mexican flag. If everyone who comes to the Cinco de Mayo party wears white, green or red, you’ll have an ambiance that’s all about the special day. It also makes for great photos when everyone participates and follows the dress code.

Having a party like this is sure to put everyone into a Latin frame of mind. Playing some great Latin music will only add to the day and with everything in place, it will certainly be a party no one will soon forget.
